A Quickie

While I finish drinking my hot tea and then maybe an Advil...

This is why I love Russ Feingold (D-WI):

"I will do everything I can, including a filibuster, to stop this Patriot Act conference report, which does not include adequate safeguards to protect our constitutional freedoms," said Sen. Russ Feingold (news, bio, voting record), D-Wis., who was the only senator to vote against the original version of the Patriot Act.

"Hate" is a strong word. So I shall just say that I love him for showing a strong dislike for the USA Patriot Act. By the way, doesn't the very nature of the name remind anyone of the irony of the names in the George Orwell novel 1984? "Ministry of Love" is actually a detention and rehabilitation center that uses torture. But I digress; Sen. Feingold is protesting the new "compromise agreement" on the Patriot Act-

Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., announced Thursday that a House-Senate negotiating committee had reached an agreement that would extend for four years two of the Patriot Act's most controversial provisions — authorizing roving wiretaps and permitting secret warrants for books, records and other items from businesses, hospitals and organizations such as libraries. Those provisions would expire in four years unless Congress acts on them again.

"All factors considered it's reasonably good, not perfect, but it's acceptable," Specter said of the agreement.

Hm... I'm a foreigner from a country bordered by one of the "axis of evil" nations. In my previous post, I have threatened to pelt the White House with the spiciest kimchi I can find. I have checked out from the library Arianna Huffington's book, How to Overthrow Government. Oh boy, I'm totally an "enemy combatant"... And if my unconstitutional detention does get media coverage, watch as Ann Coulter takes that previous sentence (which, by the way, was stated with sarcasm) out of context and says something racist/sexist/intolerant about how "that little Asian commie biatch had it coming." Actually, she tends to be more creative with her insults... It's her one (and only) talent.

Excuse my Coulter-bashing. This article just pissed me off.

This [decaffing] has been quite therapeutic, actually. Now, where is that Advil?
