GG no Re

OMg, please, give up the cowboy image. Stop being the lone ranger. And finally, accept international aide! Ask for it! Pleeeeeeease.

President Bush will call tonight for an unprecedented federal commitment to rebuild New Orleans and other areas obliterated by Hurricane Katrina, putting the United States on pace to spend more in the next year on the storm's aftermath than it has over three years on the Iraq war, according to White House and congressional officials.

This is ridiculous.

He could asked for help today.

But he didnt.

Hey Dubya, here's a message: It's not frikking cool to go on a fiscal suicide.

And if Oedipus wasnt such a mother fucker, I'd do a longer in-depth analysis of the affects of budget hari kiri.

[[ addendum by Christie, who's on a super-short break from Oedipus Rex ]]

NBC/WSJ poll shows Bush at 40% approval... and much more:

After Katrina, 75 percent now believe the United States is not adequately prepared for a nuclear, biological or chemical attack. That’s an increase since June 2002, nine months after Sept. 11, when 66 percent believed this.

When asked to choose between rebuilding Iraq and establishing a democratic government there or rebuilding New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, 60 percent of respondents said New Orleans is the greater priority, while just 5 percent mentioned Iraq. Thirty-four percent said both are equally important.

On a somewhat similar note, 45 percent believe that reducing spending on the Iraq war is one or two actions that should be taken to pay for the Katrina relief efforts. That’s followed by 27 percent who want to repeal tax cuts, 12 percent who want to cut federal spending in other areas (such as education), 8 percent who want to increase the deficit and 7 percent who want to raise income taxes.

And also from MSNBC:

Saying poverty breeds terrorism and despair, President Bush challenged world leaders on Wednesday to abolish all trade tariffs and subsidies — worth hundreds of billions of dollars — to promote prosperity and opportunity in struggling nations.

I'm honestly not complaining... It's just that, if he's willing to get help from UN on behalf of all these countries suffering from violence and poverty, he should've humbly asked the global community to help. And here ends my little blurb. I just saw that poll earlier and thought it'd match this. And on that note, I'm off to study the tragedy behind a guy who kills his dad and marries his mom (with whom he has four kids) and ends up gouging his eyes out.
