Why I will never stop... talking.

My sister asked me yesterday, "If a Democratic president was elected in 2008, will you stop reading the blogs, news and stuff?"

I thought carefully about my answer: Probably not to the same extent. No president is perfect. With President Bush, I may be bashing him... but other times, blogging is a step from the Hollywood Media. Watch the news someday and tell me how much you learned about the war in Iraq, the AIDS crisis in Africa, the state of the economy, and anything of substance. The thing is, most important issues facing our country today are long-term things. The mainstream media has no patience for such commitments. Aside from brief mentions of the Darfur crisis, the only coverage on Africa was about Angelina Jolie.

So no. I will not stop reading blogs and newspapers. Plus, a president's party does not always determine the president himself. If John McCain is the Republican candidate in 2008... expect plenty of political discourse, but not as angered. I never wanted to make fun of Bush. Frankly, in 2000, I was the wee little eighth grader who didn't really care. I didn't like Bush then (I thought that he was just a daddy's little boy- and damn if my first impression didn't turn out to be correct) but I knew nothing about him. But bush made me mad. He betrayed my trust first in his "axis of evil" speech, then through his troubled presidency. When others' lives (thousands, in fact) are dependent on his actions, and he keeps making mistakes... I cannot and will not forgive nor forget.
