Katrina's effect on Christie

As we all know, hurricane Katrina will have an effect on many of our industries. One of these industries is especially important: Coffee

San Jose Mercury News:

"Katrina may have destroyed about 1.5 million sacks of coffee stored at warehouses in New Orleans, raising the global price of coffee."

poor Christie....

Chief Justice William Rehnquist dead

I was just starting a post when my sister, while watching TV, heard the news via a special news report.

Rachel: Hey, Christie... William Rehnquist died.

Me: WHO?

Rachel: William Rehnquist.

Me: Jumps out of chair, runs to living room. You're joking.

Rachel: No, really. Look. Points to TV.

Me: Almost faints. OHHHHH MY GOSH... I don't believe this.

And then I saw it on NYTimes and CNN.

The death of conservatism as we know it?

That's what everyone's been speculating these days. It's not just the fact that current conservative beliefs took away the funds for flood control in the first place, despite a FEMA report in 2001 calling a flood in New Orleans to be one of the three biggest dangers to the country. This Daily Kos diary is an eloquent eulogy for the "Grand Old Party"

I was completely impressed and left this comment:

There are writings that resonate with the emotions, but lack substance. And then there are writings that are so full of new ideas and careful analysis but dry in rhetoric.

This is both.

And by "both" I of course meant the BEST of both...

Go read it!
