Still alive...
It's amazing what a week of no school (and senioritis) can do in terms of decaffing...
And it's not like NOTHING was happening. Hm... So, Cheney actually shot somebody, although luckily, the man shot by the Vice President is fine. Bush totally screwed up with the Dubai port deal, drawing opposition from Democrats (like Senator Charles Schumer of New York) and Republicans (with an effort by Michael Savage to rally the GOP). The administration's handling of the issues seem to fit with the series of political mistakes the administration has made recently.
So obviously, the Republican incumbets aren't too happy with how the Dubya & Co. have hurt the party in general.
In other news... lots have happened since the Winter Games Opening Ceremony in Torino, Italy. Bode Miller, probably the most hyped-up American athlete going into the games, showed a carelessness that I found kind of disrespectful for the focus and discipline of his fellow athletes. I decided that Apolo Anton Ohno was a nice guy, but that the NBC commentators proved to be absolutely worthless as journalists when it came to sports. Totally overdid the competion between members of the U.S. speed skating team... Oh, and don't even get me started on their insinuating and absolutely irrelevant comments about the Korean short track team, which did very well and showed enough sportsmanship to bury the hatchet with Ohno. Poor Sasha fell twice and Irina Slutskaya once to hand the figure skating gold medal to Japan's Shizuka Arakawa, whose grace and all-around talent made her my personal favorite early in the competition.
It's weird how I like to decaf when I'm busy with school and everything else. When there's nothing to do except watch clips of the Olympic footage, go shopping, and just get out of the house to have fun... I tend to not read or write anything. Plus, most of my reading time was monopolized by Edith Wharton's The House of Mirth.
Anyhow, expect more regular posts? Then again, senioritis is a very powerful thing, indeed.

Some Republicans, however, think the episode highlights a structural problem: Without Bush's own reelection to worry about, White House aides are less alert to the political implications of fast-moving issues or unexpected events. Compounding problems, White House staffers have seemed exhausted in general for much of the year, according to people in close contact with them.
