Silent Consent
When I heard the President's argument that he has the right to defend our country by spying on its citizens is ridiculous. I couldn't believe what I've heard, or what I didn't hear: our outrage. If Democracy is by definition the rule by the people and if the government draws its legitimacy from the consent of those governed, then all I can say is that it's a sad day when we do not stand up for those civil liberties that are guaranteed to us by our constitution. To not cry out is to give silent consent, and that is not something we can give to our President when he is contradicting the foundations of the country. And the fact that the New York Times would sit on news like this for a year is proof that we have become a nation that no longer believes in our Civil Liberties.

Where have you been all along, George?
But I'm glad you're no longer silent, although I know that you're NEVER silently consenting.
Maybe you heard nothing because most of us simply agree with it!
