Geez, make up your mind

One day, they're fuming about "activist judges" and "unelected institutions" deciding on oh-so-important issues like two guys (or two girls) getting married. And the next day, the Governor of Cah-lee-fuh-nee-uh is saying that the courts should decide. MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND, anti-marriage-equality neocons!

Arnold is hardly a "neo-con."

And "activist judge" is in the eye of the beholder... An "activist judge" is one that based upon a complete absence of any wording to that effect, decides there is a fundamental constitutional right to abortion. A judge that decided 30+ years of legal precedent (such as Roe) should be thrown out would also qualify as an "activist."

One more thing - why is it so hard for you liberal types to understand the argument that gay marriage threatens the institution of marriage? I don't make or endorse that argument, but I can understand where a thoughtful "value-conscious" person or politician would be concerned about it. They're not saying homosexuals are out to interfere with your marriage (or anyone's in particular). Its the institution... The 50% divorce rate only makes their worries gain legitimacy.

I will respect your right to your own opinion. I didn't mean to call Schwarzenegger a neocon, cuz I don't think he is one... It's just frustrating (not to mention confusing) that when an elected body actually does something about this issue, some people want the courts to decide. And when the courts say anything on the issue, others supposedly on the same side of the debate complain that they don't have the power to do so.

How does what two consenting adults do in their home force others to divorce, or otherwise threaten marriage? The 50% divorce rate has NOTHING to do with gay marriage.
